Surgical placement of dental implants in the ideal site comprehensively covers everything from case selection and planning to surgical placement and restoration. The course is held over four busy two day sessions. This academy style course emphasizes hands-on training exercises and culminates with every course participant performing a implant surgery on their own patient under a closely mentored experience to learn how to ideally place implants for optimal esthetic and functional results. Auxiliary training and post-course mentoring available to ensure successful transition of these implant surgical skills into their daily practices. A small group allows for close mentoring and a unique course experience with your dental colleagues. Experienced course faculty teach and mentor in this course. Good food, good friends, great education! <font size ="3" color="red'>It is critical for successful completion of the course to attend all four sessions of the course. Effective learning and mentorship hinges on understanding each of the educational building blocks covered in the course to provide successful dental implant therapy for your patients.</font> Faculty: Dr. Matthew Hopfensperger (Prosthodontics) and Dr. Glenn Reside (Oral Surgery) Dr. Hopfensperger is the Director of the University of North Carolina Predoctoral Dental Implant Program. Together with Dr. Reside, they are co-directors of the elite UNC Dental Implant Surgery Elective Course. Location Practical Dental Learning Center The PDL Center is an affiliate of the Wake Forest School of Medicine, Department of Continuing Dental Education. It is located in Roxboro, NC. ADVANTAGES of taking courses at the PDL Center include: 1) Small class sizes – Maximum class size is never more than 20 participants. Implant mini-residency maximum class size is 14 participants. 2) Personalized attention by leaders in dental education – the small class sizes provide the opportunity for extensive one-on-one supervision and mentorship. 3) Academy style courses – All courses provide significant hands-on components. 4) Learn techniques and skills that you can apply in your successful dental practice. 5) Live patient care – Implant courses will provide every participant the opportunity for direct patient care performing all surgical and restorative procedures on their own patients as well as the opportunity to directly assist on of your colleagues during their live patient sessions. 6) Staff training – Parallel courses and hands-on training are offered for your dental assistant to optimize the transition of patient treatment into your daily practice. 7) Lower cost to the dentist – courses have a small town atmosphere and price. Tuition and lodging expenses are lower than comparable courses located in the big cities. 8) Modern teaching and conference facility with a relaxed learning environment. 9) Community service – Our preference is that you provide your own patient for the course. If this is not possible we will make arrangements to provide a patient. Dental implant therapy will be provided to patients at a significantly decreased cost. This may allow patients who otherwise not be able to provide dental implant therapy the opportunity to receive high quality dental care. 10) Network with colleagues, have good fun, and great food!
